Gold tree at Shepherds Bush

Fiona Heron, a designer based in Nottingham, approached t4 design to assist her in designing and manufacturing a decorative laminated glass acoustic 'fence'. The structure was commissioned for installation next to Shepherds Bush tube station at Plimley Place in London, with a brief that the fencing should have specific sound proofing properties.

T4 design assisted in the research and development of the project and helped Fiona generate the artwork. It then offered technical advice on the decibel levels that could be achieved through the thickness and construction of the glass panels.

Once the artist Fiona had applied the gold and silver leaf to the the imagery of the tress and bark, t4 design laminated the artwork between two sheets of toughened glass. Once erected in Plimley Place the result was stunning, with passers-by admiring the 'fence' as they made their way to and from the tube station.
