Glass Fabric Laminates

#glassfabriclaminates

T4 Design, based in Mansfield in the East Midlands, have spent considerable time in researching and developing to ensure the viability of laminating certain fabrics within glass. We have become experts in the specification and manufacture of glass fabric laminates.

Glass fabric laminates are made up of one or several layers of fabric encapsulated between multiple layers of glass. The glass fabric laminating process can be used with stock fabrics such as silk organza and muslin to create kitchen glass splash backs, bathroom glass splash backs, moiré wall panels, glass partitions and fabric mirrored wall panels.

T4 Design have worked very closely with many textile designers and artists who wish to have their bespoke work showcased in this innovative way using or glass fabric lamination process.

For an example; Carol Waller specialises in hand painted silks which are laminated in between two pieces of toughened glass. Her workmanship can be found in many localities in a number of formations, both externally and internally as a glass partitions, glass doors, glass sculptures or a feature within a waterfall.

T4 Design Fabric laminating gives you the opportunity to encapsulate a rich selection of fabrics within protective glass layers. Using regular woven cloth, delicately constructed textiles or printed fabrics combines the beauty, colour & texture of the fabric with the structural strength & practicality of glass.

Laminated glass is the process by which two or more layers of glass are bonded together using heat and pressure. This process can be carried out using annealed or toughened / tempered glass of any thickness to create safety glass in large panel sizes.

Not only can T4 Design encapsulate fabric within glass, metal meshes from finely woven gauzes to thickly braided weaves and decoratively etched metal foils, offers an innovative range of structural and design possibilities. These materials allow the transparency, rigidity and structural qualities of glass to be combined with the decorative and aesthetic qualities of the metal weaves and meshes.
